Sustainability Board Communities Portfolio: digital team support

Application closing date: 21 July

We are seeking volunteers to join the growing digital team of the Sustainability Board Communities Portfolio. The digital team prepares and promotes content to increase actuarial engagement on sustainability issues.

The digital team produces a weekly sustainability newsletter, maintains a LinkedIn and Twitter page, and organises regular interviews with professionals working in sustainable finance.

The volunteer would also be responsible for supporting digital community virtual events. These include sustainability book club discussions and informal discussions which align with Sustainability Board virtual events.

Objective

New digital team members will support the production of the weekly sustainable finance newsletter ‘SFC Update’ and implementation of new engagement initiatives. The newsletter is published in the early afternoon every Friday on LinkedIn.

View the SFC Update newsletter

Volunteers will have the opportunity to:

  • build sustainability contacts within the actuarial community
  • increase their knowledge on sustainability issues
  • help raise awareness and knowledge within the profession

Expected activities

The main weekly activities are:

  • helping to source news articles, webinars, and research papers for the weekly sustainable finance newsletter SFC Update (this is ad hoc as you come across them)
  • summarising one or two articles for the newsletter (Wednesdays or Thursdays): roughly 10 minutes per article

Less frequent activities include:

  • supporting new engagement initiatives, such as interviewing sustainable finance experts and organising and summarising discussions from the sustainability-themed book club
  • preparing updates and management information for the Sustainability Board
  • updating and contributing to the sustainability website, the IFoA communities sustainability platform, and the LinkedIn page
  • attending a monthly team call of 30 to 45 minutes to discuss the above and other matters

Time commitment

The expected time commitment is less than 30 minutes in most weeks. There is flexibility around study leave and other commitments.

The team works remotely, so we are completely flexible with respect to location. Currently, the team members are from the UK, India, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. Monthly team meetings are set to accommodate those time zones but could be changed.
