Practising Certificates Committee – Lloyd’s Panel – member

Application closing date: 5 November 2023

Would you like to be part of the IFoA Practising Certificates Committee (PCC)?

The current Chair of the PCC, Karen Butroid, is seeking to appoint a Fellow to become a volunteer member of the Lloyd’s Panel of the PCC to consider applications for Lloyd’s Syndicate Actuary practising certificates.

What we are seeking

Karen is very keen to hear from any qualified members of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) who would like to discuss this role and find out more about what is involved. Expressions of interest are encouraged from Fellows with:

  • a current, or recent, practising certificate in the relevant area
  • up-to-date knowledge of actuarial work in the Lloyd’s and London market
  • knowledge of the IFoA’s regulatory functions
  • an understanding of the Practising Certificate Scheme and the competencies required for the relevant practising certificate, as set out in the Practising Certificate Handbook

For more information, please view the:

Time commitment

As contributions are mainly carried out online, the time commitment is approximately, on average, a total of 5 hours per month, though maybe more in the latter half of the year. There are also up to 2 full PCC review meetings each year. Participation in these meetings will be by videoconference, to ensure location is not a barrier. There is no requirement for all members of the committee to meet in one place.

Tenure

3 years, reviewed annually. To provide continuity, it is hoped that members of this committee will be happy to take up a tenure of 3 years. However, tenure is reviewable annually, depending on changing circumstances, participation, and performance in PCC matters.
