The conference programme has been carefully designed by our local member-led programming committee in partnership with the IFoA’s Middle East and Africa Team and Events Team.

Our conferences are designed to support the development of the actuarial profession and to be a place where members from diverse practice areas can come together to explore current issues and trends, build their networks and celebrate their achievements.

Our conference programmes offer a mix of keynote, panel and workshop sessions, where delegates can explore the current challenges and future opportunities for the profession and gain insight from industry leaders through shared best practice and case studies.

Member have told us that opportunities for professional develop are a key element of our conference programming, so our Middle East conference offers a range of presentations and workshops, where you can enhance your skills and meet your continuing professional development (CPD) requirements, alongside professionalism sessions.

Our conferences are an important opportunity for us to celebrate our members, so the programme for our Middle East conference includes an event for local actuarial students to showcase the profession, new qualifier and volunteer recognition ceremonies.

Our conferences are also a valuable opportunity for us to meet our members and share our plans for the future. Our President and President Elect, along with the interim CEO will attending our Middle East conference and our President, Kalpana Shah, will deliver a Presidential Address as part of the programme.

IFoA conference speakers are selected by our volunteer conference organising committees.

Our conference organising committees are selected from a diverse pool of IFoA volunteer applicants for their knowledge of relevant trends and topics of interest for that conference.

Our Middle East conference organising committee for the region were selected for their knowledge of relevant local and global trends and topics of interest, plus experience of working in the Middle East.

The conference organising committee use their knowledge and experience to ensure the programme covers all key areas of the actuarial sector and includes any new and emerging market issues, by ensuring key topics are covered in the conference call for speakers.

The conference organising committee assess all speaker proposals for relevance and suitability for the conference to ensure key themes and relevant practice areas are included. All speaker names and company names are redacted to ensure a fair selection process.

Yes. If you are keen to share your research, knowledge or thought leadership with your actuarial community we encourage you to respond to our conference call for speakers.

We issue calls for conference speakers throughout the year and advertise them in our events alert and general newsletter emails, alongside IFoA Communities and our social media channels.
