Chief Executive Officer

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is the UK's only chartered professional body dedicated to educating, developing and regulating actuaries based both in the UK and internationally.

We regulate and represent over 32,000 members worldwide, overseeing their actuarial education at all stages of qualification and development throughout their careers. We set examinations, continuing professional development, professional codes and disciplinary standards for our members. Today, our purpose is ‘To be the voice of actuaries, and to support, develop and be the voice of our members.’

We will appoint our next Chief Executive Officer as we re-commit to growing and supporting our changing profession at the beginning of our next strategic cycle. The profession’s role in the Covid-19 pandemic, coupled with accelerating technological revolution and societal challenges have highlighted the importance of actuarial skills. As skills find new applications in a range of settings, including health, finance, technology and climate control, we must be ready to embrace and support such change in a changing world, particularly as advancements in data and AI develop at an unprecedented pace.

As a member of the IFoA Board and reporting to our new Independent Chair, you will play a key role in ensuring that the Institute and Faculty is as accomplished, performant and future-focused as the profession we serve.

We are looking for a collaborative leader with a genuine interest in our work and our members. A customer-centric, commercially astute Chief Executive or Executive Director, you will be accustomed to complex governance settings, working with boards, strategic partners and volunteers across organisational and geographical boundaries to deliver sector-leading products, services and thought leadership in support of corporate mission and purpose. A rounded, inclusive and inspiring leader, you will bring a contemporary skill set and values, able to run regulated businesses well, modernise infrastructure and capabilities, and respond to market dynamics to maximise business results and impact.

We are excited about our future and hope you will consider applying for this important role.
