Important update - accessing your exam results on 6 July

6 July 2023

We understand that waiting for your exam results can be an anxious time, so we have contacted students due to receive their results this evening by email to let you know about issues we have been experiencing with the publication of exam results and the steps we are taking to resolve these issues.

We would like to apologise for any additional stress these technical issues have caused candidates, who have tried to access their exam results in the last 48 hours. We have been working hard to fix these issues and would like to thank you for your patience.

We experienced high levels of web traffic when we released candidates’ exam results letters on 4 July, and despite taking steps to prepare for this increase in web traffic, we experienced a system outage.

Accessing your exam results

While we have put measures in place to resolve this issue you may experience minor delays in accessing your results later today. We would like to apologise again for any anxiety this may cause.

To ensure accessing your exam results goes as smoothly as possible, we will be releasing your exam results at 18:00 UK time.

To access your exam results, please log in to your members’ area of the IFoA website. You will be redirected to an exam results page, where you can access your results by clicking on the relevant links. Please note that these links will only be available after 18:00 UK time.

We will be restricting access to other parts of the members’ area before and after 18:00 UK time to prevent any issues with accessing your exam results.

The steps we have taken in the last few days to address these issues should mean you are able to access your exam results as normal this evening. However, if you are unable to access your results on your first attempt, please wait a short while before trying to log in to your members’ area again.

The next 48 hours

You should be able to access your exam marks breakdown as normal when they are released tomorrow. We will be closely monitoring the situation over the next 48 hours, and should further problems occur, we will take urgent action to address them.

Looking ahead

We know that similar issues have occurred around exam booking and results publication in the past. This is due to our member portal platform reaching the end its lifecycle. We aim to launch a replacement system later this year, which should address all these issues and provide a much-improved user experience.

This is part of a wider programme of digital improvements that will deliver the type of user experience our members expect.

We are committed to resolving these issues and will keep you updated.

Kind regards

Anne Moore
