Now that you’re a qualified CAA, you have the opportunity to join one of the associations that are a part of CAA Global
You can opt to join the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), based in the United Kingdom or the SOA Center for Certified Actuarial Analysts, a subsidiary of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), based in the United States.
CAA Pathway
Once you’ve qualified as a Certified Actuarial Analyst, are there routes to the IFoA Associate and Fellowship qualifications?
Having qualified as a CAA and gained some valuable work experience, you may wish to consider embarking on an actuarial career by undertaking the professional IFoA examinations through to Associate and Fellow.
The study that you have undertaken will prepare you for the core principle subjects, particularly the Actuarial Statistics (CS) and Actuarial Mathematics (CM) subjects, which we suggest you should attempt first.
The IFoA has developed a pathway to provide an opportunity to gain some exemptions from these two subjects. This involves some additional formal assessments to ensure that material not studied during your CAA has been appropriately covered.
If you wish to continue with your professional studies and qualify as an actuary, through the IFoA examination route the following exemptions are available to you during the April and September 2025 exam sessions (only):
- Exemption from CS1 providing you sit and pass our CS1 B Paper which will cover the gaps between the CAA and IFoA syllabus.
- Exemption from CM1 providing you sit and pass our CM1 B Paper which will cover the gap between the CAA and IFoA syllabus
These pathway assessments are available to you during the April and September 2025 exam sessions.
Booking for these assessments will open at the same time as IFoA exam bookings. Further information can be found on the key dates webpage. Please contact the Member Service team to book your space for these pathway exams.
Fees:
- CS1 Paper B £200
- CM1 Paper B £200
