The IFoA Greater China Team is pleased to host a professional skills training onsite event in Beijing on 9 May. This evening event is also live-streamed.

We are honoured to have senior IFoA Fellows Mr Sherwin Xiaoxuan Li and Ms Grace Pei Guan join us at the event to give keynote speeches and engage in interactive discussions.

Mr Sherwin Xiaoxuan Li is Head of Risk R&D Center/Risk Research Institute of PICC P&C Headquarter in China. Ms Grace Pei Guan is Chief Actuary of Generali China Life Insurance.

The event is free for all IFoA members. Registration for onsite attendance is now open till COP 6 May 2024. Limited space is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Highlights

This event is based on the Actuaries’ Code and the recently updated 2023/24 IFoA Professional Skills Toolkit. In conjunction with what the speakers share, we review and discuss the 6 principles of the Actuaries’ Code. Mr Sherwin Xiaoxuan Li starts with a case study of actuarial practice in the era of artificial intelligence, focusing on analysing and sharing the integrity principle of the code.

From a life actuary’s perspective, Ms Grace Pei Guan explores professionalism in operational processes to maintain healthy and sustainable company development. Participants can take part in an interactive discussion to exchange views.

Featured Speakers

Ms Grace Pei Guan FIA is the Chief Actuary of Generali China Life Insurance and in charge of the actuarial, corporate development, and marketing departments. Grace graduated from Central University of Finance and Economics and has accumulated 20 years’ experience in the actuarial industry. Grace is the Fellow of the IFoA and holds the designation of FCAA and FSA.

Grace was also appointed as an expert of the Solvency Supervision Expert Consultation Committee of then China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission. Grace is also the external mentor at the Central University of Finance and Economics and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.

Mr Xiaoxuan (Sherwin) Li FIA is a Fellow of the IFoA. He is also an RMS Certified Catastrophe Risk Analyst CCRA) and an AIR Certified Extreme Event Modeler (CEEM). He is a Cert member of Chartered Insurance Institute (Cert CII), an Associate of Reinsurance Administration ARA), and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

He has nearly 20 years of working experience in the insurance industry and worked for Asia’s largest reinsurance company and Asia’s largest P&C insurance company successively. He worked in the underwriting department before moving to actuarial function, and has worked in London and Singapore.

He is the head of Risk R&D Center/Risk Research Institute of PICC P&C headquarters in China, responsible for the research and model development of emerging risks. He graduated from Nankai University with a master’s degree in actuarial science.
