Changes to Practising Certificate requirement for Reviewing Actuaries

27 March 2024

The IFoA’s Regulatory Board will be removing the requirement for Reviewing Actuaries of a life firm to hold an IFoA Practising Certificate.

Following our recent consultation, the IFoA’s Regulatory Board has made the decision to remove the requirement to hold a Practising Certificate for Reviewing Actuaries of life insurance organisations. The removal of this requirement reflects the IFoA’s commitment to proportionate and consistent regulation.

We have published revisions to the relevant Actuarial Profession Standard (APS) L1, Duties and responsibilities of Life Assurance Actuaries, as well as the Practising Certificates Handbook and Practising Certificates Scheme, to reflect this change.

The change will come into effect from 2 April 2024.
