Vote on the election of Nicola Draper as Honorary Fellow

Voting members of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) are called upon to vote on the election of Nicola Draper as an Honorary Fellow. The nominee is held by Council to have given service to the actuarial profession, directly or through achievements in related fields.

How to vote

Voting is conducted independently by Civica, and this year’s vote has been combined with the Council election. Voting members will receive access codes directly from Civica by email on Wednesday 19 June. If you do not receive an email, contact the IFoA’s Corporate Secretary at

The ballot is open 24 hours a day and closes on Monday 22 July at 14:00 BST.

The results of the votes will be announced at the IFoA’s Annual General Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday 24 July at 09:45 BST.

This year, one individual has been endorsed by Council:

Nicola Draper

Nicola Draper has been nominated for an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her services to medicine and public health, including her service as Co-Chair of the Covid-19 Actuaries Response Group. She is a leading expert in Public Health and associated Mortality, Morbidity & Longevity risk, and in 2007, she co-founded the firm Medical Intelligence who now provide ongoing research and support to actuaries from many of the leading Consultancies, Pension & Insurance companies in Europe and the US.

Nicola is currently an affiliate member of the IFoA, and until June 2024 sat on the Health and Care Board. In early 2020, Nicola joined the Covid-19 Action Taskforce and working party, as a prominent and founder member of the non-affiliated Covid-19 Actuaries Response Group. In 2021 Nicola was awarded the IFoA President’s Award, in recognition of her medical expertise and extraordinary commitment to the actuarial profession.

Previously a member of a number of peer review panels for various journals including the British Medical Journal & the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, in 2013 Nicola was lead author of a paper in the British Actuarial Journal and continues to regularly write for the Actuary Magazine and The Longevity Bulletin. She has managed the Combined Mortality Service since 2012 and as editor of the bulletin has published over 10,000 pages of analysis and review.
