Health and Care Lifelong Learning Sub-committee – members

Application closing date: 26 January

The IFoA’s lifelong learning committees play an important and highly active role in coordinating and curating the content provided in the profession’s online webinar programme and conferences, with support from the IFoA’s events, marketing, and communities engagement teams.

Health and care is a constantly developing practice area. This vacancy offers a real opportunity to shape the direction of travel in terms of contributing your enthusiasm and expertise to the committee.

With so many people now working and learning within a hybrid model, the webinar programme and conferences are key to showcasing central themes and innovations to the health and care community, which in turn encourage, engage, and support members in many ways.

Being part of this committee is an opportunity to make a real difference to members and to contribute to the wider profession.

Key focus for the committee

Our immediate goal is to source content for events beginning in March 2025. We are a small, dedicated group looking for enthusiastic and well-connected individuals to support our efforts and help ensure succession planning for the committee’s future growth and success.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking members with:

  • a strategic mindset and thoughtful views on how to enhance the IFoA’s event offerings, ensuring they reflect best practice and deliver real value to a diverse community of current and future members.
  • a collaborative spirit to work with fellow committee members to design and deliver an engaging programme of events—both online and in person—that meet the CPD needs of pensions professionals.
  • a willingness to promote events through personal social media channels, engage with IFoA communities online, and spark meaningful conversations within the profession.
  • an interest in new domains as the actuarial profession continues to diversify and expand into emerging sectors.

Time commitment

On average, members are expected to attend one online meeting (approximately one hour) every four to six weeks, with some additional work on assigned actions in between. There is also the opportunity to chair webinars, which would involve some extra time commitment.
