Professional Skills Working Group – members

Application closing date: 26 January

Would you like to contribute your creative ideas to our professional skills content? The Professional Skills Working Group is looking to expand the breadth of experience and knowledge within the group and is seeking to appoint 2 further members.

We are particularly keen to hear from you if you are a Fellow or Associate of the IFoA with an interest in professional skills and think you can bring a fresh perspective to our content development, whether geographically, culturally, through your role or background, or simply through your lived experiences of working as an actuary. We would be particularly interested if you have experience in the pensions industry, both in the UK and internationally, to bring a pensions perspective to developing professional skills content.

The group develops a substantial amount of professional skills content annually and its members are invited to facilitate/participate in webinars and potentially face-to-face events. We are therefore keen to increase the available resource for developing video case studies and additional content, and/or facilitating/presenting professional skills sessions.

Key skills and experience

We are looking for members who:

  • have experience working in the pensions industry
  • have a keen interest in business ethics, and knowledge of the types of ethical dilemmas that actuaries face in their daily lives
  • enjoy being part of a creative team, willing to share ideas of their own and contribute to others’ ideas
  • enjoy presenting/facilitating online and in-person at webinars and events
  • have experience of a professional ethics committee or experience in presenting/delivering training (useful but not essential)
