Fellowship is available to members who wish to continue their studies to an advanced level or to specialise in a particular actuarial field. They will need to pass further specialist exams to qualify as a Fellow.
Actuaries who gain their qualifications through the IFoA can describe themselves as a Chartered Actuary. Chartered status is a simple way to denote the level of training, professionalism and expertise its holder offers.
Fellowship carries the designation FIA (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries) or FFA (Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries). Those who also adopt chartered status can use the designation
Chartered Actuary (Fellow) and the post nominals
FIA C.Act or FFA C.Act.
Fellows have the right to vote on matters affecting the future of the profession and the opportunity to be involved in membership forums, events and research.
Some actuarial jobs have UK statutory requirements which can only be completed by a Fellow
Find out more about this on the Practising Certificates page.
Further information on modules, including the syllabus and specimen papers, can be found under Curriculum.
Once you have met all the requirements we will contact you with instructions on how to register as a Fellow.
Chartered status is only available to IFoA members who have achieved actuarial qualifications.
Once you qualify as an IFoA Fellow or Associate you can claim chartered status in a few easy steps.
