Ever since, institutions — including pension funds, insurers, central banks, and many others — have found increasingly innovative ways to integrate ETFs into their investment strategies.
Institutional adoption accelerated following the observed efficiency and deep liquidity of ETFs in highly stressed market conditions relative to their underlying asset markets.

Femi Bart-Williams, Director, is a member of the EMEA iShares fixed income product strategy team within indexed fixed income and LDI. He is responsible for driving client adoption and commercialising existing and new iShares ETFs and index strategies, focusing on institutional clients and asset owners.
Femi is the Co-Chair of the Black Professional Network in EMEA and joined the firm in July 2021 from the solutions group at Legal and General Investment Management. Here he focused on driving the development and adoption of investment solutions (including LDI, cashflow matching and equity replication and protection strategies and others) by institutional clients and the use of technology to improve client engagement.
Femi has a first class honours BSc Actuarial Science degree from the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
