Pensions - CDC and Collective Benefits Working Party - members

Application closing date: 31 August

The overarching aim of the Pensions CDC and Collective Benefits Working Party is to help frame the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ (IFoA) contribution towards the evolution of the UK’s Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) regime, by participating in policy debates and consultation responses, and furthering the actuarial profession’s understanding and engagement in this area.

The Working Party is chaired by Keith McInally of WTW and has been running since 2018. Due to one volunteer recently retiring, a new volunteer vacancy has become available.

What is involved

The Working Party’s work falls into three main areas:

  1. support actuaries’ work on single-employer schemes, for example facilitating industry debates and the evolution of guidance and professional standards
  2. work on the further development of CDC, including multi-employer / master trust (whole of life) schemes and Decumulation-CDC. This is likely to involve responding to formal consultations (working with other IFoA committees), engaging with DWP and TPR as appropriate, inputting into research and analysis, and facilitating industry debates.
  3. Further the actuarial profession’s (and wider industry) understanding and engagement in CDC through a series of events and written thought leadership.

Further details of the Working Party can be found on the IFoA website.

Person specification

Applications are welcomed from members of the IFoA and non-members. We are particularly interested in volunteers with some relevant experience of CDC, and are passionate about helping drive the development of this exciting new area.

Time commitment

Meetings are held quarterly and on an ad hoc basis, currently by Teams call.  The number of meetings and timing are dependent on the number of current CDC issues arising, including consultations, professional matters, and external / wider IFoA engagements.
