Health and care – Wellness and Prevention Working Party – Chair, Deputy Chair, and members

Application closing date: 15 September

The insurance industry is increasingly recognising the critical role of wellness and prevention in improving health outcomes and reducing financial risks.

The Wellness and Prevention Working Party aims to explore how wellness interventions can be integrated into health and care products and how actuaries can leverage these interventions across the insurance value chain (for example product design, pricing, claims management, care pathways, reservicing, underwriting valuations, thought leadership papers, and sales).

This working party will focus on identifying key wellness and prevention pillars relevant to the insurance industry, such as physical, nutritional, social, emotional, financial, spiritual, intellectual, and environmental wellness.

The group will differentiate between tools (devices and apps) that measure biometrics and services designed to improve health and wellbeing. It will examine case studies of how these solutions are used and give views on the impact they can have on mortality and morbidity assumptions.

Initially it will focus on a literature review of key findings on the impacts that physical activity, mental wellbeing, sleep, and nutrition can have on mortality and morbidity assumptions.
