General Insurance Board – online engagement representative

Application closing date: 31 July

The General Insurance Board continues to evolve to better align itself with the community it represents.

Its ongoing focus is to:

  • have clear and measurable objectives
  • promote better collaboration across our industry
  • enhance member value by increasing transparency and representation
  • improve efficiency

The purpose of the board will continue to be to represent the general insurance membership on all professional, technical, and operational matters that affect them and to advise the IFoA accordingly.

We are keen that the General Insurance Board include representatives from a wide range of backgrounds and areas, to help ensure that the committee can holistically consider the issues faced by general insurance actuaries as they arise.

We are particularly looking for a new member whose responsibilities will help to enhance our online presence and wider engagement directly with the actuarial community, through the new digital platform.

Are you experienced in managing social media accounts and engaging audiences on digital platforms? We need your expertise!

Responsibilities:

  • Update our social media account (LinkedIn)
  • Engage with our online community with content to promote discussion

Benefits from being involved include:

  • the ability to influence and contribute to the general insurance practice area and strategy, particularly with regards to lifelong learning opportunities for practice area members
  • professional support and assistance from within the board and IFoA staff
  • the opportunity to influence the IFoA’s approach to progressing its strategy
  • a chance to further develop your professional network of contacts within the general insurance industry

Time commitment

Generally, these roles can be suited to Fellows or Associates of the IFoA, or equivalent, and will require approximately one to two days per month, including attendance (dial in option available) at General Insurance Board meetings.

We encourage expressions of interest from suitably qualified members, especially those with an international perspective and/or with international experience. General insurance membership is increasingly diverse from a geographical perspective and it is important this is reflected in the General Insurance Board membership.
