Artificial Intelligence & Data Science – Professionalism, Regulation and Ethics Working Party – Members

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) has a thriving Artificial Intelligence and Data Science community which supports several active and diverse, member-led working parties.  

The scope of the Working Party is to research a wide range of topics with the aim of producing helpful guidance for actuaries working in data science – or actuaries using AI tools - under three headings:

  • Professionalism: considerations when applying the Actuaries Code, TAS and APSX2 to data science work and AI tools – e.g. communicating complex algorithms.
  • Regulation: keeping on the right side of relevant regulation – e.g. GDPR, EU Gender Directive.
  • Ethics: considering wider issues of ethics in AI and data science – e.g. bias.

Time commitment

Personal time commitment of around 1-2 days per month to research and draft content. Plus, one hour per month for discussion meetings to check progress (meetings will be held virtually).
