In this session the speakers provide an overview of the life and health capital solutions across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Asian markets. They will give insight on how client needs are evolving post risk-based capital implementations and how reinsurance can be leveraged to address these needs.

Ranjan Pant is an actuarial professional with around 17 years of experience in the areas of actuarial valuation, pricing, Solvency II and risk reporting, experience investigation, and reinsurance in the Indian insurance industry. He is currently associated with Aviva Life and a member of the IFoA’s Finance and Investment Lifelong Learning Sub-committee.

Sandra Moringa is Head of Life and Health Structured Solutions in EMEA for Swiss Re. She started at Swiss Re in 2012 working in London as pricing actuary in life and health traditional reinsurance for the UK. She then moved to Zürich to the life and health structuring team, where she has successfully executed innovative capital optimisation solutions for European clients. She is now leading the team creating and executing tailor-made capital solutions. She has studied Management and Actuarial Science at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. Sandra is a Swiss qualified actuary and is the President of the Continuous Development Program committee of the Swiss Actuarial Association.

Richard Whiteoak, Senior Structurer and Transaction Manager, leads the Swiss Re Life and Health Structured Solutions team for South-East Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and India. Richard has over 14 years of actuarial experience specialising in valuation, financial reinsurance, and IFRS 17. He has worked with clients to solve a range of business problems such as capital optimisation, management of new business strain, and IFRS 17 implementation. He is a fellow under the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
