IFoA Council elections

Council elections are open from 5 June to 8 July 2025.

The election for the vacant General constituency seats on Council opens on Thursday 5 June.

There are 22 candidates for election to the eight vacant seats in the General constituency. They are:

There was only one candidate for the sole vacant seat in the Scottish constituency. There will therefore be no election this year in the Scottish constituency. The candidate, Philip Doggart, will be elected to Council unopposed. However, all members are invited to vote on proposals to elect two Honorary Fellows, and on our AGM resolutions.

You can visit our dedicated elections website from Thursday 5 June 2025 for more information on the candidates. However, as explained below, you will need to access the site by a unique link emailed to you in order to vote.

Votes must be received by 14:00 BST/UTC+1 on Tuesday 8 July.

How do I vote in the IFoA elections?

All Fellows, Honorary Fellows, and Associates of the IFoA are eligible to vote in the Council elections in the constituency they are a member of.

Voting takes place via a dedicated election website hosted by our election services provider. When it is election time, our provider will email you with the details of how to cast your vote.

How do I become a Council member?

Nominations for seats on Council are encouraged from all Associates and Fellows of the IFoA. We have a strong commitment to diversity and being representative of our vibrant global community, and welcome candidates based in any country and from all backgrounds.

As a Council member you will:

  • have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Council’s vision for the IFoA and the wider actuarial profession, and to the future of Council itself under the reformed governance arrangements that were implemented earlier this year
  • ensure that the IFoA continues to deliver a premium service to our members and a qualification that is valued by employers, educators, and governments world-wide
  • influence key decisions and expand the actuarial profession, helping us be the voice of actuaries everywhere
  • benefit from a role that is fulfilling, fascinating, and challenging
  • contribute your experience, perspective, and knowledge to support others and safeguard the profession
  • help us work for the public interest, uphold the reputation of the profession as a thought leader, and ‘do good’ on behalf of our members
