5 March 2026
In 2025, Council agreed changes to the General and Scottish Constituencies for Council elections. These changes will come into effect for the 2026 Council elections which will open for nominations in late April.
There are currently 30 elected members of Council. The Scottish Constituency will be reduced from 6 places to 3 and the General Constituency will be increased from 24 to 27. The number of members for each constituency is proportionate, as far as practicable, to the number of members entitled to vote in that constituency.
Further details for the 2026 Council elections will be posted on the website as we prepare to open the window for nominations.
To check which constituency you are a member of or to change your constituency, you can log into the IFoA’s member area or you can email the Member Services team at memberservices@actuaries.org.uk.
Please note that the IFoA takes an ‘electoral roll’ for the Council elections, and this cannot be amended once the election window opens. Therefore, any requests to change constituency received during the Council elections window will not be actioned until after the election window has closed.
