Nominations open for IFoA Council elections 2025

24 April 2025

Help to shape the future of the IFoA

IFoA Council members are responsible for setting the long-term vision for the IFoA and the actuarial profession. They help to represent and develop both the organisation and the profession by gathering opinions from peers and practice areas and making strategic recommendations to the IFoA Board.

Membership of the Council is an important role, with stewardship responsibilities that require strong governance, leadership, and accountability skills.

We rely on members all over the world to step up and fill that role. It's how we ensure that we are building a future for our organisation that accurately reflects what members want and need, as well as the demands and evolution of the actuarial profession.

Why join IFoA Council?

This year’s Council election is your chance to play a truly leading role in the development of the actuarial profession. This year there are 6 vacancies in the General Constituency and 1 in the Scottish Constituency.

As a member of Council you will:

  • be part of an influential representative and regulatory body, helping to shape the future of the IFoA and the actuarial profession.
  • join the body at the heart of key decisions that impact the profession and all actuarial practitioners.
  • gain exposure to high-level governance, policy-making, and strategic leadership, enhancing your technical and interpersonal skills.
  • become part of a dynamic team, contributing to meaningful discussions and initiatives.
  • connect with senior professionals, industry leaders, and key influencers across financial services and beyond.
  • give back to the profession by contributing to its growth and sustainability, ensuring a strong future for actuarial practice.

Council membership last three years and takes up about 10 to 15 days a year. Scottish constituency Council members automatically become members of the Scottish Board, which meets six times a year.
