Life – Systemic Risk of Reinsurance Working Party – members

The IFoA is seeking to appoint both members and suitably experienced non-members to join the Life – Systemic Risk of Reinsurance Working Party. The group would welcome applicants with experience working in reinsurance or regulation, an academic specialism or from risk practitioners.

 

Background

The growing use of and reliance on reinsurance/retrocession and other risk transfer techniques by direct insurers and reinsurers spanning different jurisdictions may be giving rise to concentration risks (both in terms of jurisdiction and counterparty) and other risk exposures that are not visible or properly understood by (re)insurers themselves, rating agencies and shareholders or by regulators whose remits concern the safety and soundness of individual firms but also wider financial stability.

Time commitment

The time commitment varies but roughly 4 hours a month.  The working party meets fortnightly for 30 minutes to an hour. Meetings are held online.
