General Insurance Lifelong Learning Committee – members

Application closing date: 15 March

The IFoA’s General Insurance Lifelong Learning Committee plays a central role in shaping high quality, relevant learning opportunities for actuaries working across the diverse and fast evolving general insurance practice area.

The general insurance community spans pricing, reserving, capital modelling, claims, risk, reinsurance, emerging risks and wider analytics. The committee ensures our events reflect the latest issues affecting these fields.

The committee oversees the annual General Insurance Spring Webinar Series (Q1/Q2) and contributes to the content programme development for IFoA GIRO Conference, bringing timely, topical and thought-provoking content to the profession.

We are now seeking new volunteer members to help shape this portfolio of activity and support the continued development of high value learning for the general insurance community.

Key responsibilities

These include:

  • Contributing topical, relevant content ideas informed by your professional insight and industry connections
  • Chairing a webinar session or facilitating a GIRO plenary or workshop (support and briefing provided)
  • Reviewing and scoring call‑for‑speaker submissions using a structured scoring system
  • Peer‑reviewing speaker slides and ensuring content quality and relevance
  • Helping promote events through professional networks or IFoA channels

Time commitment

The committee meets online for one hour each month, with some additional work outside these meetings depending on the event cycle. Activity tends to be higher during Q2 (spring webinar series), and again in the content programme planning for GIRO (Q3).
