Electric Vehicles Working Party – members

Application closing date: 19 April

Are you curious about the future of electric vehicle ownership in the UK? Have you been wondering if our electric vehicle targets are realistic and what this means for car insurance?

Would you like to challenge the status quo and dive into the critical questions? As electric vehicles become more common, how are insurance costs and car ownership evolving?

This recently started and exciting working party is welcoming applications from both IFoA members and non-members. The group will continue to explore how actuaries can shape a framework for the future of motor (electric vehicle) insurance. With 2030 and 2035 targets looming for UK motor manufacturers, we will work with industry experts to tackle key questions:

  • What will the future of insurance look like as EVs dominate the roads?
  • Can we keep EV insurance premiums affordable?
  • What factors in repairability and replaceability are crucial for insurability of EV vehicles?

The working party presented at IFoA GIRO Conference and has responded to a government consultation in its first year with plans to continue this work through the next few years.
