Better Sensing and Responding to Change Working Party – Deputy Chair and members

Application closing date: 1 June

The IFoA is seeking to appoint both members and suitably experienced non-members to join the Better Sensing and Responding to Change Working Party.

The working party aims to revolutionise actuarial practices in unstable environments and have identified critical gaps in existing methods and developed innovative solutions by integrating insights from the systems sciences, statistical process control, and language philosophy. The group now invites your expertise to refine and challenge these approaches, ensuring they are practical and widely adoptable.

Key opportunities

  • Contribute to innovation: Help develop a problem-solving toolkit that replaces the traditional actuarial control cycle.
  • Ambassador of change: Be part of shaping the future of actuarial science by promoting new methodologies.
  • Networking and recognition: Engage with diverse professionals, gain recognition, and have fun while contributing to groundbreaking research.

The working party have a webinar in July and will either work on a paper or further presentation following the webinar. The ideal candidate does need not to be an actuary, but will be curious and have strong technical experience in at least one actuarial or relevant related discipline.
