Call for speakers: IFoA Life Conference 2026

Help shape your conference

The IFoA is seeking bold, forward-thinking contributors for its flagship event. IFoA Life Conference 2026 will bring together actuaries and experts across a wide range of related disciplines to explore the future of the actuarial profession and the world it serves.

We warmly invite actuaries, and experts from outside the profession, to share their innovative thinking and fresh viewpoints. If you have an idea that challenges convention, sparks debate or could help to advance actuarial practice, we want to hear from you.

Share your proposal by 09.00 BST (UTC +1) Thursday 17 April 2026.

What we are looking for

We are looking for technical and non-technical proposals across topics like:

  • AI, data science and emerging technology
  • Climate risk, sustainability and resilience
  • Regulation, governance, ethics and professional judgement
  • Innovation in product design and decision-making
  • Leadership, communication and influence
  • New and non-traditional applications of actuarial thinking

(Topics are not listed in order of preference)

We also encourage sessions that explore:

  • Insurance simplification: product simplification, fund transitions, restructuring and finance transformation
  • Retirement futures: DC-dominated ecosystems, guided retirement solutions, CDC developments, emerging market innovations, and bulk annuities
  • Protection themes: regulatory developments, the protection gap, and the role of mutuals
  • Health, longevity and policy: health and social care integration, health inequality as a macro risk, and why actuaries should stay close to health policy trends
  • Global themes: the interplay between local and international markets, and insights drawn from unique challenges where purpose and objectives align across jurisdictions.

Whether you are still exploring your early thinking or you have a fully thought-out perspective, we would love to hear from you.

Different ways to be heard

Sessions at IFoA Life Conference may take the traditional pattern of a speaker presentation followed by Q&A, or work within new session formats. We are working to create spaces where challenging questions can be explored, ideas can be tested, and diverse perspectives can be heard, for example:

  • Shorter, punchy sessions offering a platform for emerging voices or timely, provocative ideas
  • Interactive formats, including hackathons, innovation hubs or roundtable discussions.

Why get involved?

  • Share your thinking with a global professional audience
  • Build your reputation and visibility as a thought leader
  • Connect with innovators, decision makers and peers across disciplines
  • Shape conversations that influence the future of the profession
  • Contribute to a conference designed to explore, experiment and challenge

If you are excited by the conversations that could unfold at this year’s conference, we would love to hear your idea.

How to submit

Submit your proposal on our online platform by 09.00 BST (UTC +1) Thursday 17 April 2026.

It should include a 250-word summary on your chosen subject, covering the following:

  • Key outcomes or messages attendees will take away
  • Relevant background information (for example working party work and survey findings)
  • Proposed session format, including logistics and timing (standard sessions are one hour, including at least 10 minutes for Q&A; please specify if you propose a different format)
  • Company and contact details for all speakers.

Shortlisted talk titles and abstracts will feature in the conference programme and conference marketing campaign.

Successful applicants will be asked to share presentation materials for peer review by an IFoA representative. We will share timelines for that process when we inform successful applicants that they will be included in the conference programme.

To ensure a balanced, fair and transparent selection process, each proposal is independently reviewed by the Life Conference Organising Committee, who have a broad range of expertise across the health and life sectors.

If you have any questions or would like to explore session formats with an IFoA representative, please contact eventmanagement@actuaries.org.uk.
