Student members preparing for exams now have a streamlined way to access essential study materials. As of October 2025, past exam papers and examiners’ reports are available exclusively on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
The IFoA has a growing set of interactive resources to support students with exam preparation. This change brings everything together in one place, making it easier to access these resources alongside all our other learning content.
To access the papers, members and student members can simply log in their VLE account. Non-members studying for the CM1 and CS1 exams can use guest access to past papers and examiner reports for these subjects.
Pre-2019 papers and reports are also available to members in the VLE archive on request but are of limited use for revision. Pre-2019 questions relate to the previous syllabus.
The right Formulae and Tables book to use depends on the year of the exam paper. Exam papers from 2019 to September 2025 used the orange book (published 2002). Exam papers from April 2026 will use the red book (published 2025). This is available for student members to view on the VLE and for purchase from the IFoA eShop.
On the VLE you will also find a series of resources that will help you to understand the structure of the exam papers and provide you with some top tips for success.
