Mind management: our most important life skill?

Tue 03 Feb 2026 -
12:00 - 13:00 (GMT)

In an uncertain world where disruptive change is constant, we often hear about the power of mindset to help us survive and even thrive in our personal and professional life.

We all have about 50,000 thoughts a day, 40,000 of which are negative, stressful thoughts.

Most of us learn how to manage everything except our minds. We are taught how to think, plan and solve problems but not how to manage our minds doing all that thinking.

Mind management is about learning how to manage and regulate our thoughts and emotions to improve our mental health and wellbeing, our resilience and productivity. It is our most important life skill.

You are cordially invited to join us for this session of the Committee for Lifelong Learning in Risk Management to hear more from our inspiring speaker, David Butcher of Positively Aware.

After more than 50 years of practice, few are as qualified as him to tell us about the skills and techniques of managing our minds. As David puts it: “I don’t just bring all those years of practice but I bring the lived experience of love, loss and liberation.”
