Paul Lewis, CEO

Paul was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the IFoA in January 2025. He is an experienced senior leader in the professional body and not-for-profit sectors. Before joining the IFoA, Paul was the chief operating officer and deputy chief executive at the Royal Society of Chemistry from 2018-2024, overseeing the work of 700 staff serving 60,000 members and delivering £70m of annual revenues. Paul’s previous roles have included director positions at City & Guilds and University of Cambridge Assessment. Paul is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and holds an MBA. He is a Freeman of the City of London, Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and, the Royal Society for the Arts.

Paul leads the executive in the delivery of the IFoA Council's vision and Board strategy with a particular focus on enhancing our membership services and learning offer including our qualifications. Paul also plays a leadership role in the IFoA's engagement with regulators in key markets and in creating opportunities to collaborate with partners worldwide including the IAA, the AAE and other actuarial associations.
