UK Motor Working Party – members

Application closing date: 17 May

We are seeking to appoint both members and suitably experienced non-members to join the UK Motor Working Party which the General Insurance Board launched in September 2025.

The board created the working party to bring its motor-related activity under one umbrella. This structure facilitates clearer coordination, reduces duplication, and better reflect the growing interest from regulators and other stakeholders in this space.

The working party has an overall chair and distinct workstreams, each led by a dedicated workstream chair and deputy chair. Together, the chairs have formed a collaborative leadership team, ensuring coherence and cross-stream engagement.

Appointments will be made by a selection panel based on relevant expertise aligned to the terms of reference.

Outputs volunteers will be producing may include:

  • annual data collection and producing annual industry reports to support actuaries and other professionals working in these important fields
  • contributions to regulatory or strategic debates on both the industry and consumer angles
  • presentations at IFoA and external conferences and events
  • engagement with stakeholders

Time commitment

The time commitment varies but will not be more than a maximum of half a day per month. Members will be expected to undertake research and to follow up on actions between meetings.

For some workstreams, there will be an annual collection of data, supported by the IFoA Executive.  This will support the production of an annual industry report.  There may be some element of time pressure at specific pinch points to ensure the report can be published on time to support actuaries who rely on this annual data.
