General Insurance Asia International Working Party – members

Application closing date: 30 June

The General Insurance Asia International Working Party provides a forum for general insurance (GI) actuaries to explore local and international GI issues specifically impacting members in the Asia region.

Proactive volunteers who have a passion for advancing the profession and the time to contribute are encouraged to get involved. The opportunity is open to both members of the IFoA and to non-members in the Asia region and have experience in GI.

We are ideally seeking volunteers who have:

  • A background and extensive experience in the GI practice area
  • Experience of strategic processes, research, communications, and programme or events development
  • A good network of contacts within the Asia region and the enthusiasm to further grow this network

Time commitment

  • A minimum of one hour every fortnight for working party meetings in addition to one to two hours per month for those actively contributing to the working party’s output
  • The time commitment may increase towards the preparation and delivery of outputs (for example drafting surveys, preparing and delivering presentations at conferences, conducting research)
  • To maintain an active and engaged working party, each member should aim to attend at least 4 out of the 12 monthly meetings each year and contribute to at least one research topic annually
  • Volunteers who can’t meet these criteria may be considered inactive, and as part of our regular housekeeping, could be removed from the working party list

Please note: Meetings will be held via video conferencing / conference call every 2 weeks.

Volunteers are not required to travel to participate in this working party, nor to meet in person, but members in the same location may take the lead in coordinating meetings in their offices or dialling in together, if they wish.
