IFoA statement on the death of Her Majesty The Queen

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. I join with Council, members and employees at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK, the Commonwealth and across the world in expressing our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family at this very sad time. As a Royal Chartered body, we are very grateful for the Queen’s many decades of public service."

Matt Saker, President, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, it was announced that Monday 19 September would be designated a national Bank Holiday in the UK in honour of Her late Majesty’s State Funeral.

In recognition of this event, the IFoA will be observing this Bank Holiday so our offices will be closed on that day. As a mark of respect, we will also be ceasing all email, web and social media communication from midnight Friday 16 September until midday Tuesday 20 September.

Exams that were due to take place on Monday have been rearranged and candidates have been contacted to inform them of this. (The CS2 paper A exam will still run as planned on Monday but an hour earlier than originally scheduled. This will ensure that the exam has finished for the majority of candidates before the funeral at 11:00 UK time.) All exams planned for Tuesday 20 September onwards will be going ahead as normal.

We know that many of you have been as saddened as we have by Her Majesty’s passing and will appreciate the IFoA pausing its normal activities over this weekend to respect the occasion.
