Application closing date: 22 November
The IFoA is seeking to appoint members to the newly formed Public Policy Appraisal and Resilience Working Party. We would welcome applications from both IFoA members and suitably experienced non-members.
The working party will develop actuarial thought leadership on public policy appraisal and assessment, and promote the application of actuarial insight to the evaluation of public policy options, programmes and investments where risk, uncertainty and long-term outcomes are important considerations.
Background
In 2025 the Green Book Reform Task and Finish Group was established to provide actuarial input into HM Treasury's review of the Green Book’s discount rate. The group's work identified a broader set of questions relating to the appraisal and assessment of public policy choices, programmes and investments, particularly where decisions involve social insurance, intergenerational impacts and transformational change.
These themes align closely with actuarial expertise in risk, uncertainty and long-term decision-making and represent an opportunity for the profession to contribute to the development of public policy appraisal frameworks in the public interest.
