Learning Content Reviewer

The Learning Content Reviewer plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and quality of technical materials produced for the IFoA curriculum.

Volunteers support the development of reliable, accessible, and user-friendly content by reviewing syllabi for technical correctness, consistency, and readability.

The role is available to all qualified members of the IFoA (Fellows). Location is not a barrier.

Key responsibilities

  • Review syllabi and learning materials for accuracy and completeness
  • Check that content aligns with current industry standards, best practices, and IFoA guidelines
  • Identify and correct errors in terminology, data, formatting, and structure
  • Ensure content is clear, concise, and appropriate for the intended audience
  • Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • Collaborate with the IFoA’s Curriculum Team, education actuaries and other subject specialists to refine content
  • Verify references, links, and sources where applicable
  • Maintain version control and document review records as required

Key skills and experience 

  • Strong understanding of relevant technical subject areas (for example, IT, engineering, data, digital systems)
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to communicate feedback clearly and constructively
  • Familiarity with technical writing standards and style guides (for example, plain language, accessibility principles)
  • Experience reviewing or producing technical documentation (desirable but not essential)
  • Good organisational and time-management skills

Time commitment

  • Flexible – each document will take around one to eight hours to review
  • Remote role, location is not a barrier
  • Support and on-going guidance will be provided by the Curriculum Team
  • Induction and guidance will be provided by the Curriculum Team
  • Ongoing support and feedback available
