British Actuarial Journal (BAJ) – Assistant Editor (paid role)

Would you like to join the British Actuarial Journal Editorial Board as an Assistant Editor? 

The British Actuarial Journal (BAJ) is an online, Open Access publication which contains current practitioner research and discussion on actuarial topics. It acts as the platform for outputs from IFoA Sessional Meetings, including papers and transcripts of discussions, and other selected papers of interest to practitioners. 

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Editor to join the BAJ Editorial Board. The position is open to anyone with the relevant skills and experience; location is not a barrier as participation in meetings is via online call. 

Key tasks

To assist the Editor and Co-Editors in reviewing and editing journal content, contributing to the efficient delivery of the publication schedule, and helping ensure that published material meets the BAJ's editorial standards and serves the needs of the actuarial profession. 

Key skills and experience

Assistant Editors are required to demonstrate the following:  

  • A working knowledge of actuarial practice and research and the emerging themes and trends in actuarial science, and the ability to apply this knowledge when reviewing and editing content 
  • Excellent written English language skills, attention to detail, and the ability to apply editorial standards and guidelines consistently 
  • Well organised and able to work effectively to deadlines 
  • Approachable and collaborative.
