The results of the 2026 Council election were announced at the IFoA’s AGM on 9 July 2026.

 

General constituency

The retirees from the General constituency at the end of the 2025-26 sessional year are:

  • Melanie Puri FFA C.Act

There were 9 vacant General constituency seats in this year’s election. 15 candidates stood for election in General constituency.

The following were elected:

  • Matthew Edwards FIA
  • Tom Kenny FIA C.Act

Scottish constituency

There are three retirees from the Scottish constituency at the end of the 2025-26 sessional year: 

  • Simon Jones
  • Melanie Puri
  • Alan Rae

Only one candidate – Christopher Martis – stood for election for the sole vacant Scottish constituency seat in this year's election.

How do I vote in the IFoA elections?

All Fellows, Honorary Fellows, and Associates of the IFoA are eligible to vote in the Council elections in the constituency they are a member of.

Voting takes place via a dedicated election website hosted by our election services provider. When it is election time, our provider will email you with the details of how to cast your vote.

How do I become a Council member?

The next Council election will take place in 2027. 

Nominations for seats on Council are encouraged from all Associates and Fellows of the IFoA. We have a strong commitment to diversity and being representative of our vibrant global community, and welcome candidates based in any country and from all backgrounds.

As a Council member, you will:

  • Have the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of Council’s vision for the IFoA and the wider actuarial profession, and to the future of Council itself under the reformed governance arrangements that have been implemented.
  • Ensure that the IFoA continues to deliver a premium service to our members and a qualification that is valued by employers, educators, and governments world-wide.
  • Influence key decisions and expand the actuarial profession, helping us be the voice of actuaries everywhere.
  • Benefit from a role that is fulfilling, fascinating, and challenging.
  • Contribute your experience, perspective, and knowledge to support others and safeguard the profession.
  • Help us work for the public interest, uphold the reputation of the profession as a thought leader, and ‘do good’ on behalf of our members.
