The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is proud to launch The Actuarial Edge 2026, a new national case competition developed in partnership with Marsh, bringing together academia and industry to inspire and develop the next generation of actuarial and risk professionals in India.
This competition is open exclusively to university students enrolled at recognised universities across North and West India.
As the profession continues to evolve, there is growing demand for graduates who can combine analytical rigour with commercial awareness, innovation and strong communication skills. The Actuarial Edge has been created to give university students the opportunity to experience exactly that, applying their knowledge to real-world business challenges while gaining valuable exposure to industry.
Working on case studies developed by Marsh professionals, participants will explore emerging issues across pensions, health analytics, climate risk, property and casualty insurance, and reinsurance. The competition is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, helping students build practical skills and confidence in solving complex problems.
The partnership with Marsh reflects a shared commitment to supporting future talent and strengthening the actuarial community in India. By creating opportunities for students to engage with industry leaders and tackle authentic business challenges, the initiative aims to foster curiosity, collaboration and career readiness.
Recognising that today's business challenges require diverse perspectives, the competition welcomes students from a broad range of disciplines. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged, creating an environment where actuarial thinking, data analytics and business insight come together to deliver innovative solutions.
Beyond the learning experience, participants will have the opportunity to compete for Amazon vouchers worth up to INR 50,000, official co-branded finalist certificates and the Actuarial Edge Rolling Trophy, which will be awarded to the winning team's institution for one year.
Registrations open on 8 June and close on 30 June, with shortlisted teams progressing to a virtual presentation round in July before the top 5 finalists compete in the grand finale on 21 August 2026.
