‘think’ edition 15: Prioritising prevention: Investing for population health

The fifteenth edition in our ‘think’ series has been authored by David Beddows, Chair of the IFoA Health and Care Research Sub-committee. David works as a senior pricing actuary for a global life and health reinsurer and co-founded the IFoA Population Health Management Working Party.

This piece seeks to examine how the UK government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England, and the financial framework that underpins it, can support a culture of investing for prevention and population health. By doing so, it advocates taking a long-term, data-driven view of health financing – a perspective that sits at the heart of actuarial practice.

Read the full piece to learn more about how David thinks the actuarial profession can help address this challenge.
