While Participating (Par) products dominate the Hong Kong market, it may be due to a regulatory environment that makes alternatives – like UL, IUL, and ILAS – difficult to develop and distribute. The panel will trace the evolution of the Hong Kong market to understand how we reached this ‘Par-centric’ state and how to avoid these pitfalls in future frameworks. By comparing the mechanics of different product structures, the panel will debate how to remove artificial friction and restore a balanced ecosystem that prioritises genuine consumer suitability.
