Panel 1 13:50 - 14:50 Regulatory change: Exploring the shifting roles of actuaries in a new regulatory environment Read more

The topics of discussion include the latest confirmed and proposed regulatory changes regarding increased governance around:

  • Par fund management
  • Asset-intensive reinsurance
  • Public disclosures
  • Valuation of infrastructure assets, stablecoins and cryptocurrency

The panel will also discuss the shift in the role of actuaries as regulation continues to develop towards increased prudence and higher expectations around the assessment of emerging risks in the market.

Networking coffee break 14:50 - 15:15
Panel 2 15:15 - 16:05 Should actuaries embrace or be cautious of AI in the next 5 years to maintain relevance to the market? Read more

The panel will debate whether AI capability will emerge to be suitable for actuarial work in the next few years and the risks associated with it.

Panel 3 16:05 - 16:55 The Par Paradox: Regulatory friction versus consumer choice Read more

While Participating (Par) products dominate the Hong Kong market, it may be due to a regulatory environment that makes alternatives – like UL, IUL, and ILAS – difficult to develop and distribute.
The panel will trace the evolution of the Hong Kong market to understand how we reached this ‘Par-centric’ state and how to avoid these pitfalls in future frameworks. By comparing the mechanics of different product structures, the panel will debate how to remove artificial friction and restore a balanced ecosystem that prioritises genuine consumer suitability.

Closing 16:55 - 17:00
