CMI Mortality Projections Committee: CMI_2024 consultation webinar

On 25 February 2025, the CMI Mortality Projections Committee published Working Paper 197, consulting on the proposed methods and Core parameters for CMI_2024 following a wide-ranging review of the Model to address concerns raised over the sustainability of the initial approaches taken as we worked through the aftermath of the pandemic.

The webinar will be presented by Cobus Daneel (Chair of the CMI Mortality Projections Committee), Mark Cooper (member of the CMI Mortality Projections Committee) and Neil Robjohns (member of the CMI Mortality Projections Committee).

The webinar is open only to employees of firms that subscribe to the CMI.

Holi and International Women's Day CPD and Social

Launch event: What is life worth? Fairer compensation for personal injury and death

The Centre for Actuarial Compensation and Valuation of Life is a newly established research centre at the University of York. Its inaugural workshop will focus on the recently updated Personal Injury Discount Rate (PIDR) and periodical payment orders (PPOs). 

The workshop will: 

  • provide an insight into state-of-the-art practice with respect to the calculation and administration of compensation in the UK
  • focus on the debate that surrounds the setting of the key PIDR and the issues that prevent more widespread use of PPOs to provide better outcomes for claimants

The workshop comes after a CPD event that provides an accessible introduction to the actuarial calculations for compensation in personal injury and fatal accident cases.
