Matching Adjustment Working Party – members

Application closing date: 10 August 2025

The IFoA is seeking to appoint 3 to 5 members to join the life practice area’s Matching Adjustment Working Party. Both IFoA members and suitably experienced non-members are welcome to apply.

The group is particularly keen to hear from active matching adjustment practitioners and those who have experience of the new matching adjustment processes such as:

  • developing and applying for highly predictable assets
  • carrying out additional fundamental spread / attestation work
  • going through recent application readiness assessment
  • processes or matching adjustment applications
  • and related activity.

The successful volunteers will have the opportunity to influence the scope of the working party’s future output and direction of travel.
Potential areas of research include:

  • exploring the new matching adjustment regime following the reform of Solvency II
  • considering how it is working
  • exploring the practical implications of the reforms
  • asking what it is delivering and is expected to deliver for the various stakeholders including policyholders, firms, the PRA, the UK government, and the UK economy

The group aims to produce output such as research papers, articles and webinars.

Time commitment

The time commitment varies but is unlikely to be more than 2 to 3 hours of structured meetings per month. Members then spend additional time on research, analysis, drafting and review on top of this, the split of which is agreed by members within the working party – for example when preparing for webinars or research papers.

Meetings will be held via video conferencing and will be arranged at a mutually convenient time for all involved. There is no requirement to meet in person.
