The IFoA is seeking to appoint both members and suitably experienced non-members to join the LGBTQ+ Insurance Implications Working Party.
The working party will be looking at insurance implications for LGBTQ+ customers and has identified three key focus areas it wishes to explore:
As the focus areas will touch on areas of insurance outside of pure actuarial work, the working party would be thrilled to welcome volunteers from outside of the actuarial profession. This includes but is not restricted to underwriters, brokers, marketers, customer service agents, product design specialists, claims handlers, and other related professionals that feel they would like to contribute to the focus areas identified.
We have four current members of the working party. They comprise passionate individuals who wish to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ customers in the UK and further afield. We are looking for a further three equally passionate volunteers. So if you are about improving the lives of LGBTQ+ customers, we would be delighted to hear from you!
The current focus of the working party will not look at LGBTQ+ pensions implications. However, the working party will host a shadow member of the IFoA Pensions Board, so should any pensions issues arise as part of our work, these can be relayed to the relevant IFoA team.
