The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries has been at the heart of our profession for 175 years. We are proud of our heritage which provides strong foundations for our growing global membership. The organisation is currently undergoing a period of substantial change after approving governance reforms late last year, aimed at strengthening the IFoA’s resilience, efficiency, and agility.
Council sets the vision for the IFoA and as part of the reforms, is now engaging with members on a listening exercise to gather views on Council’s future roles and responsibilities.
Fellows and Associates, this is your opportunity to step into a prestigious role as a member of the IFoA Council as it resets its course for the future to better navigate a rapidly changing world. You will be serving your peers, supporting standards in the profession and making a real impact in our shared global community.
The annual Council election is your chance to play a truly leading role in the development of the actuarial profession. This year there are 8 vacancies in the General Constituency and 1 in the Scottish Constituency.
There is an expected time commitment for Council members of ten to fifteen days per year, comprised of up to four main meetings and a variety of ad-hoc Council duties. Many employers value this kind of voluntary service and recognise it as a powerful professional development opportunity.

Joining the IFoA Council is one of the most significant senior-level opportunities available to our members. Nominations open on Wednesday 8 May 2024. Nominations must be received by 12.00 (BST) on Wednesday 5 June 2024.
