Pensions Board – members

Application closing date: 9 June

The Pensions Board is a senior, member-led committee of volunteer actuaries. It advises the IFoA on important pensions issues and is a source of expertise within the profession on matters relating to the pensions practice area. It supports and promotes the interests of practice area members in accordance with the profession’s strategic objectives.

Its ongoing focus is to:

  • continue to work with key stakeholders and influence pensions policy
  • work with the IFoA on strategies for attracting and retaining members within the area of pensions
  • provide support to UK pensions actuaries in current and developing areas of work
  • actively consider what, if any, support can be provided to non-UK pensions actuaries

We strive for diversity within the board, both in terms of geographical representation and areas of expertise.

We are actively seeking 2 new members to join the board, with specific criteria as follows:

  • one member with expertise in defined contribution schemes
  • one member to represent non-UK based actuaries working in pensions

We welcome applications from qualified individuals who are passionate about contributing to the advancement of the pensions practice area and supporting the profession’s strategic goals.

Benefits from being involved include:

  • the ability to influence and contribute to the pensions practice area and strategy
  • professional support and assistance from within the board and IFoA staff
  • the opportunity to influence the IFoA’s approach to progressing its strategy
  • a chance to further develop your professional network of contacts within the pensions industry

Time commitment

Generally, these roles can be suited to Fellows or Associates of the IFoA, or equivalent. They will require about one to two days per month, including attendance (dial in option available) at Pensions Board meetings.
